St Paul's missionary journeys in Europe - Greece

A JOURNEY TO GREECE

The Acropolis at AthensOn his Second Missionary Journey St Paul crossed to Greece, bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time to Europe. The combination of mainland Greece, together with some of the islands of the Aegean, or with the Churches of Asia, provides an unforgettable spiritual experience and a most thought-provoking pilgrimage.

ATHENS

One of the cities Paul visited on that memorable journey was Athens, one of the great intellectual capitals of the ancient world. It is indeed a moving feeling to stand on Mars Hill, hard by the expansive Agora of Athens where so many illustrious philosophers had counselled and taught, and realise that this is where Paul delivered his famous sermon.

Among the islandsTO PATMOS AND BEYOND

Another highlight is ancient Corinth where St Paul ministered for nearly two years and probably sent from here the earliest of New Testament epistles - the letters to the Thessalonians. We can combine this with a visit to some of the Greek islands, including a private cruise to the Island of Patmos, where St John the Divine wrote the Book of Revelation. Or another combination is the Seven Churches of Asia, including the great city of Ephesus, which featured so much in St Paul's mission.

CRUISE IN THE WAKE OF ST PAUL

Let us organise a pilgrimage for you to this beautiful and spiritually evocative part of the Mediterranean, a voyage of tranquillity and contemplation with the companionship of that great traveller of old, St Paul.
